Taekwondo Oakham 2011

For those of you who would like information on Taekwondo

Taekwondo British team

On the 1st of October 2011 the British taekwondo team and pupils from Stamford Taekwondo Gtuk performed a demo of activities to promote Oakham taekwondo. Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that was originally used by the military, it is now practiced all over the world, and at the age of five you can begin to learn taekwondo. This is a martial art that teaches discipline and self-confidence to people of any age, not only do they learn this they also learn how to defend themselves.

Children from Stamford taekwondo and the England squad begin the performance with an impressive display of patterns, to the beat of boom boom pow by the black eyed peas. This was then followed by a sparring session from Stamford taekwondo, and a man on man performance by the England squad which after performed a second degree black belt pattern.

The power aspect of this art was next, were many of the England squad demonstrated the power aspect as they broke wood, tiles, slates and even concrete slabs. Mr Richard Auciello who not only trains the England squad but also Stamford and now Oakham taekwondo, is a 6th degree black belt and was quite pleased at the turn out of people at the event.

The following video is of the power aspect and should not be attempted without a trained professional to guide you through the correct technique: Oakham Demo Destruction - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRO8AqcM8WE).
